Searching Vox
Vox has search, but searching on tags are not my idea of a good context search. They are working on a search engine, but until then, I created a custom search engine using Google Custom search.
You can search all of vox, but anything private (friends, family, draft, etc) won't be found. I setup categories, so you can search all of vox, or narrow your search down to posts, audio, video, books, and photos.
There's a bonus for Firefox users: You can add the search engine to firefox by clicking the "Add Vox Search..." link on the top right. Which also gives you a neat way of searching: select text on a page, and right click "Search vox for 'blahblah'"
Check it out and tell me what you think. I've been using it for a few days now and I think I've got the categories working well.
Search Vox.com
Vox-labs.com was started by two Six Apart employess, Pants Party and I, so we would have a site to put our vox related tools on, such as my Vox bookmarklets, and Pants Party's KVOX (ask him)
Well anyway, I've got mono, and it is wreaking hell on my body. I'm having bouts of hypersomnia, insomnia, headaches, body aches, and sore throat. :( Throw some collective luck my way please.

As far as I could see from the mycroft page though Vox's default tag search behaviour is not compatible with the xml (which requires a GET search URL).
In the end I was going to do a modified Google open search, but started passing out so gave up on that one.
And know I am so very glad that I did! You're solution is very attractive and well put together. I have added this into my FF search box.
Also I just had double checked in IE7 - it discovers the search plugin, but any search goes directly to:
http://www.google.com/webhp
This behaviour is not occurring in FF.
Anyway. Nice one dude.. that's absolutely spot on, and I couldn't agree more, just searching tags is not really ideal. (eg if I search for "vox labs", this post does not appear because the tag has a hyphen... "vox-labs").
One final thing though - the search refinements offered by the tabs don't seem to do anything?
Alex
ps. I don't know what mono is, I've heard it mentioned before and not known what it is.. it does not sound nice though. Healthy vibes being beamed out to you.

Cool! There have been so many times I've wasted a ton of time hunting for things that don't show up from tags.
Is it possible to return thumbnail images when doing a search for photos? Just a thought...
Could you try it again? Remove it if its installed on IE7 and readd it.
The search type in each tab puts a higher priority on the type. If there are none that matched, the content in the tab would look like the 'all of vox' tab.
I removed the plugin and reloaded it. It now goes to vox-labs/search, but doesn't display any results. I have cross checked that the search plugin is still working in FF and in IE7 you can search using the form input search without a worry.
Thanks for that - I had just used some basic terms on that one, so obviously there wasn't much variance between the results. I've tested with more common terms and you get a nice spread of results.
Cheers, and again, nice one!
Very nice work. If you don't mind, I'll be linking this post to my blog, if it pleases you ;)
I don't mind at all!
VOXsearch found it right away. it is great, I wish VOX would license it from you.
