Hit by a car, almost!
I was almost hit by a car about 30 minutes ago. I was leaving the crosswalk, almost on the other side of the street when a car sped around the corner. I saw the car out of the corner of my eye and lept forward. I felt the tire hit the back of my shoe and my butt grazed the hood. I ended up almost knocking someone down as I was leaping away from the car onto the sidewalk. The black woman driving the car rolled her window down, and yelled "I'm sorry". I said "You nearly killed me!", overstating the truth, but considering the circumstances... She took off without checking if I was alright. I got the plate number. CA plates 5NSW234, maroon color new car. I wasn't hurt, but I'm a little bit shaken. Is this still considered a crime if I'm not hurt. I suppose it could be vehicular assault, but I doubt the police would care unless someone was hurt.

It's pretty much guaranteed that they won't do anything unless you're injured. Ask Gene about his luck with getting anything done with a guy who actually got out of the car and started slamming him against the wall.
Maybe she was running from something? Or on drugs? Or stole the car?
